YRBM 6 was one of the Navy's non self-propelled Repair, Berthing and Messing Barges. Placed out of service on June 26, 2000, YRBM 6 was sold on August 13, 2001. The superstructures were later removed and ex-YRBM 6 was subsequently used as a working barge.

The photos below were taken by Michael Jenning and show ex-YRBM 6 serving as a civilian working barge near the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth, Va., on April 13, 2016. Almost 16 years after retirement from the Navy, the name YRBM 6 is still clearly visible on the barge.
