YFN 1278 was one of the Navy's covered lighters. After only 4 years of service, YFN 1278 was deactivated and put in reserve at Philadelphia, Penn., in 1997. Later converted to an open lighter, the barge reentered service as YC 1684 on December 17, 2009.
