USS ROBERT E. SIMANEK is one of the Expeditionary Sea Base Ships derived from the MONTFORD POINT - class Expeditionary Transfer Docks. The ROBERT E. SIMANEK is the first ship in the Navy named after USMC Private First Class Robert Ernest Simanek who received the Medal of Honor for combat action during the Korean War in August 1952.
