Pearsall, USN (ret.), Commanding Officer of DD 988 from 1982-1984, is currently working in conjunction with the USS THORN DD 647 Association (who successfully "sponsored" DD 988 into the Fleet) to petition the Navy through the Congress to commission a new THORN.
