Finally got underway and got stuck in the middle of the 1980 Iranian Hostage Crisis. Flew home from Bahrain, but would do it again in a heartbeat. GOOD SHIP,CREW,TIMES.
Bostian, Bosco	RM3	1979 – 1980		Great times, got to see Saudi, Oman, Bahrain, Muscat and on our one trip out of the Gulf Mombasa Kenya but wouldn't trade one minute of it.

Atkinson, Sid	GMGC CMAA	1979 – 1980	3rd Division, Weps	Liked the double sea time, got me to instructor duty. Went through an overhaul in Naples, that was not the best, required an Inserve Inspection. Was operating in the gulf during the failed embasy rescue.

Smith, John W - Smitty	BM2	1979 – 1980	1st Division	Did second tour during Iran Hostage Crisis...Converted to DP2, made DPC and retired in 1995. DADT in 97, took the leap and rest is history and now one can openly serve....How things have changed for the better!!

Holmen, Howard	EMC	May 1979 – Jun 1980		Had to teach loaned deck seamen to rewind motors since we didn't have but three other electricians. Weapons elevator, deck crane, 1/2 the motors, two generators, etc. All broken. One hell of a good crew to keep her running!!!
Aldrich, Dale	E-1/E-2	May 1979 – Jun 1980	V Division	Reported to the Lasalle in Naples, Italy. What a great time in my life. Had s lot of fun with Cody Self, Van, Wojo, Parker and others including Ltcdr Fuller. Would love to hear from anyone I served with.

Keith, Jeff	BM3	Oct 1979 – Sep 1980	2nd	Second command. Got on board just in time for the Irainian Embassy hostage takeover. One of the hostages I met in Rockport, Texas in 2004, turned out to be drinking buddies till he died in 2010.
