USNS SHASTA was the sixth ship in the KILAUEA - class of Ammunition Ships and was named after an extinct volcano in northern California. Decommissioned on 1 October 1997, SHASTA was transferred to the Military Sealift Command (MSC), Naval Fleet Auxiliary Force the same day and her hull number was changed to T-AE 33. SHASTA remained active as an ammunition ship until inactivated on April 29, 2011. She is presently help in reserve at Pearl Harbor, Hi.
